Rolling Retro 2016

I have never taken part in a surf competition before, and I have always eyed out the Rolling Retro. It is a fun day of retro-inspired surfing where any surfer can have a go at competing in surf, bodyboarding and even bodysurfing heats! Since I love bodysurfing so much I decided to enter the bodysurf competition. The swell forecast for this past Saturday looked pretty big at 2.3m WSW –¬†knowing Llandudno conditions it wouldn’t be THAT big. Well, when I got to Llands at 8am I was shocked to see some 8 – 10ft bombs exploding on a very low-tide sand bank…! Us poor bodysurfers were the first to swim out as well at 9:30 and it was not an easy swim at all. A few brave souls made it to the backline and managed to score some pretty big waves before being slammed into the sandbank. I decided not to take my GoPro with me as it was just too big to swim with it, but I did take loads of photos throughout the rest of the day. Check them out below.

Taking photos in the surf has its challenges. You have some great photos. Well done.
